Enjoy the unspoilt East coast of Mauritius at Trou d’Eau Douce in this exclusive villa built on a private seaside estate which has been in the same family for more than a hundred and twenty years. It offers direct access to two beautiful and contrasting beaches.
Conceived by its prize-winning international architects as a contemporary version of a colonial villa ‘Croix du Sud’ has both sea-facing, and garden-pool verandahs. The five double bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms: one downstairs opening on the front terrace, and four upstairs opening on a full-length covered balcony with sea-view.
The completely protected swimming pool is set in beautifully landscaped tropical gardens with fountains, garden ornaments, sculptures, and rock garden all lit at night. The floodlit banyan tree makes the perfect setting for an evening BBQ.
Trou d’Eau Douce is the starting point for boat trips to the celebrated beach at Ile-aux-cerfs and the impressive waterfall at Grande Riviere Sud Est,; also catamaran snorkeling tours along the coast with barbecue-style lunch on board.
There are wonderful walks along the coast to Belle Mare. Sunrise can be viewed from the balcony, sunsets over the beach can be spectacular - and one of the best places to star gaze, to see the Southern Cross, is from the beach at the end of the garden - the Southern Cross, and the Milky Way, a night sky to remember.

Trou d'eau Douce is the typical fisherman village of Mauritius. The name of the village means literally "Hole of sweet water", it is where fresh water meets the ocean.
Trou d'eau Douce still has the charm of ancient Mauritius and makes it a perfect getaway for a quiet and relaxing island holiday.
One of the best place to visit nearby is the white sandy beaches and turqoise water around "Stag Island", known here as Ile Aux Cerfs.
